Mesut Ozil's first-half performance for Germany praised on Twitter

Mesut Ozil became the focal point of Arsenal's team last season, grabbing 19 assists in what was, without doubt, his best season during his three years at the club and quite possibly the best of his career.

And it seems the playmaker has carried his form from the domestic scene to the international stage, at least as far as Twitter is concerned. Ozil is currently playing against Northern Ireland in a deciding game in Euro 2016's Group C.

While Germany were always expected to dominate the small British nation, fans cannot help but praise the Arsenal star for what was a quite sensational first-half performance. He may have no goals and no assists but that is certainly not through a lack of effort.

Indeed, one particular point of note came after just seven minutes when Ozil's magical through-ball sent Thomas Muller clean through on goal. But the Bayern Munich star missed the golden opportunity.

Unfortuantely, Ozil's pass won't show up in his assists statistics, but it seems Arsenal fans are making sure it is never forgotten. Take a look at the pass – and the reaction to it – below.

Another chance

That wasn't the end of it, however. Ozil also put Mario Gomez clean through only to see the lumbering striker miss another one-on-one strike. We have not got a video of this one yet but Twitter is already placing Gomez alongside Arsenal star Olivier Giroud in the 'wasting-Ozil's-passes' category.

As it stands, Germany are 1-0 up after Gomez scored from close range. The assister was Muller but Ozil's key pass started the move. He's simply everywhere.
