While it's now seemingly unlikely that Bayern Munich playmaker Mario Gotze will sign for Liverpool this summer, it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

The technically gifted star has long been linked with a move to Liverpool and could yet reunite with revered coach Jurgen Klopp at Anfield ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Now, though, his focus is solely on Germany's Euro 2016 campaign. Gotze, of course, scored his country's winner as they secured the World Cup just two years ago, but his career has stalled since then.

Indeed, over the last couple of years in the Bundesliga, he has failed to truly establish himself as a leading player.

That's why, then, reports have suggested that he could be set to leave Bayern behind in the pursuit of getting his career back on track.

Struggling Gotze

Gotze would have certainly been hoping to impress during Euro 2016, but before Germany's final Group C game against Northern Ireland, he had failed to truly stamp his mark on the tournament.

The clash against the British minnows appeared to be the perfect opportunity for Gotze to hit top form, however.

Ultimately, though, Gotze was removed from the field of play before the hour mark at the Parc des Princes.

Despite producing a couple of fine touches, he once again struggled to produce the goods and missed a couple of decent opportunities.

Liverpool fans react

As you can imagine, Liverpool fans took it upon themselves to express their feelings on social media.

And they didn't hold back; Liverpool fans do not want their club to splash the cash on the misfiring German.
