Gareth Bale didn’t score, but he still managed to be Wales’ hero.

The Real Madrid star sent in a wicked cross that Northern Ireland’s Gareth McAuley could only send into his own net as Wales progressed to the European Championship quarter-final.

Chris Coleman’s team continued their fairytale story with a 1-0 win.

They probably deserved it, shading a rather dull game.

Wales will now take on the winner of the last-16 clash between Hungary and Belgium.

The Dragons have been drawn in the ‘easy’ side of the draw, which doesn’t include Germany, Italy, Spain, France or England, and, with Bale playing some of his best football, who knows just how far they can go.
