The stars of the NBA have appeared pretty reluctant to make their way to Brazil this summer for the Olympics, and after an 82-game regular season, with whatever playoff runs they enjoyed on top, who can blame them?
Team USA suffered major hits to their roster when LeBron James and Stephen Curry amongst others declared they were in serious need of a rest instead. Luckily for coach Mike Krzyzewski, he has an embarrassment of riches to choose from regardless and he can still pick a roster full of All-Stars.
Spain, on the other hand, does not have that luxury. When Pau Gasol expressed fears over the ongoing Zika virus earlier this month, many thought Spain might be without their star man.

Gasol, who is just about to enter free agency, even suggested he might freeze his sperm in a bid to avoid the pitfalls of the disease. However, he appears to have changed his tune.
"My commitment to the national team is greater than my fears over what might happen," Gasol wrote Saturday in the Spanish newspaper Marca. "My feelings of passion and responsibility toward my national team, my sport and my teammates are huge. They have always been and always will be. My first instinct in that sense has always been to want to be with the national team each summer.
"I will be going hoping and trusting that the people and organisations will do everything possible and take measures to minimize possible risk to the athletes. I have always had the doubt that they -- so as not to put other elements of the event in danger - have not been mindful of the health and safety of the athletes and all those who will attend the Olympics in Rio - whether those people are athletes, accompanying family, friends or fans. It is a pity that [the situation] is like this.
"We must trust in the authorities that they will follow up with what they have promised and take proper measures."
Spain are already missing Marc Gasol - Pau's brother - through injury but on their best day they do boast Serge Ibaka, Ricky Rubio and Jose Calderon in addition to the Gasol brothers.
