Paul Pogba may be ranked among the world’s most sought after midfielders, with the likes of Manchester United reportedly keen on acquiring his services, but Gary Lineker remains unconvinced.

The Telegraph reports that Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing the Frenchman back to Old Trafford and the club where he previously rose through the youth ranks.

It follows an impressive few years in Italy, with Pogba starring as part of a Juventus team that won four Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia twice as well as reaching the final of the Champions League in 2015.

However, after a frustrating first-half for France against Ireland, Lineker was quick to hit out at Pogba, who has endured a difficult Euro 2016 so far.

Lineker tweeted: Is Pogba the world’s most overrated player? In a message that has already received over 9,000 likes and over 8,000 retweets at the time of writing.

Whether the Match of the Day anchor was proven correct, however, is likely to be the subject of some debate.

Having gone 1-0 down to Ireland early on, France put in an impressive second half display with Pogba pulling the strings from the midfielder as Les Bleus battled back to win the game 2-1 with two goals from Antoine Griezmann.

Lineker has so far failed to comment on the Frenchman’s fine finish to the game, but the chances are he may want to reconsider his assessment of Pogba.

Especially if France end up playing England.
