Poland and Portugal needed a bit of livening up.

We were deep into the second-half of extra-time and very little had happened for a long, long time.

Robert Lewandowski put the Poles ahead after just two minutes with a tidy finish - it was, in fact, the second fastest goal in European Championships history.

But any hopes that this earlier goal would be the start of an entertaining encounter would be mistaken.

Renato Sanches did equalise with a stunning strike in the 33rd-minute - although it did take a hefty deflection before finding the net.

But almost an hour and a half past without any further action. That was, until, a pitch invader ran straight towards Cristiano Ronaldo.

Luckily, the number of stewards chasing the man stopped him from reaching the Real Madrid superstar but it was a close call. Check out the video below.

Almost being greeted by a pitch invader summed up Ronaldo’s night against Poland. He was guilty of missing a few half chances and was otherwise fairly anonymous.

With the match heading into penalties, Ronaldo will likely step up fifth and look to send his country through to the last-four of the competition.
