Manchester City have announced the signing on Nolito on a four-year deal.

The 29-year-old has signed from Celta Vigo for a fee of £14 million.

And, while City fans aren’t exactly expecting the Spaniard to set the world alight, they still think Nolito’s arrival signals bad news for a City star.

Raheem Sterling has come under heavy criticism this summer, his performances for England at Euro 2016 posing a genuine notion that the young prospect actually has little potential to become a star.

The 21-year-old became the most expensive English footballer when he signed for City from Liverpool in 2015. But Sterling did little to justify his £49m price tag last season.

And, as a result of Nolito’s signing, City fans fear for Sterling’s future. Check out the reaction below.

Strong connection

Nolito scored 13 goals for Celta Vigo last season, firing them to a Europa League finish.

And Sterling won’t be pleased to learn how strong Nolito's relationship with Guardiola is.

The former Bayern Munich boss gave Nolito his debut at Barcelona in 2010, thus giving Guardiola an idea of how the Spaniard could fit into his plans.

Meanwhile, Sterling is starting from scratch. He must shine in pre-season and hope that Guardiola didn’t tune into England’s matches at Euro 2016.

So ineffective was the former Liverpool man that a fundraising campaign was created by a fan to have Sterling sent home from France.

Nolito: Guardiola is among the best

Nolito gave a glowing review of Guardiola and is optimistic that the Catalan will get the best out him in England.

“I think that Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world,” Noltio told City’s website. “He knows a lot about the game and he's going to help me progress as a player and I'm sure he'll get the best out of me.

“I’ll do everything that the manager asks of me, try my absolute best and do everything I can to try to repeat the form I've shown throughout my career at various clubs.

“It's just about trying to play my normal game and let's hope that I can help Manchester City to win games.”

Despite Nolito’s signing, fans are expecting plenty more arrivals in the coming weeks. Ilkay Gundogan is a fine signing but more additions are needed if City are to compete with Manchester United, who are preparing to announce Zlatan Ibrahimovic's arrival.
