English football's worst kept secret has finally been announced: Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a Manchester United player.

The Armenia international has become Jose Mourinho's third big-name signing since taking over in late May, following in the footsteps of Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a reported £26 million.

And what a signing he is. Mkhitaryan was outstanding for Borussia Dortmund last season, scoring 11 goals and assisting a further 15 in the Bundesliga alone.

United are well and truly in business following a disappointing campaign under Louis van Gaal, with Mourinho taking no time at all to make his mark at Old Trafford.

A thoroughly exciting season now awaits the Red Devils, especially so if Mkhitaryan is able to produce pieces of magic like in the below video.

Against Werder Bremen in 2015, the winger controls a high through ball from Shinji Kagawa to perfection before producing a superb lobbed finish to help secure a 3-2 victory.

Poetry in motion. The thought of Mkhitaryan playing alongside the likes of Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial is a salivating one.

It would seem the 27-year-old is equally as excited to be joining United as the club's fans judging by his first official statement.

He said: "I am very proud to join Manchester United, this move is a dream come true for me.

"I am excited to play for a club with such an illustrious history and hope to be part of it for a long time. I thank the trust the club and Jose Mourinho have put in me."

Mkhitaryan also made a touching reference to his late father, who he dedicated his move to.

"Finally," he added, "I believe playing for such a great club honours my father’s memory, and the inspiration and drive he gave to me when I was young."

For Mourinho, he firmly believes Mkhitaryan will be a resounding success in the Premier League.

"Henrikh is a very talented footballer who has been in such prolific form for both his club and his country," the Portuguese said.

"He is a real team player with great skill, vision and also has a good eye for goal. I am delighted he has chosen to sign for United.

"I believe he will make an impact on the team very quickly as his style of play is suited to the Premier League. We are all looking forward to working with him."

Mourinho now faces a selection predicament going forward ahead of the 2016/17 term, but boy is it a good predicament to be in.
