Renato Sanches has reportedly threatened to sue Guy Roux after the retired French coach, 77, questioned the Portuguese starlet’s age.
Roux sensationally claimed that Sanches is either 23 or 24 years old, rather than 18, due to the fact his date of birth was registered five years later than it should have been.
However, a video has now been posted online which effectively proves that Sanches is the age he believes he is. (Scroll down to watch the clip).

The video, filmed in 2010, shows a 13-year-old Sanches conducting his first televised interview.
He certainly looks like a 13-year-old boy and not, as Roux suggests he should have been at the time, around the age of 18.
Video: Renato Sanches interview from 2010
Sanches stumbles his way through the interview - as you expect a 13-year-old lad would - and is clearly nowhere near 18 in the clip.
What Roux said about Sanches
“He says he’s 18, but I think you should look at the past,” the former Auxerre boss said. “His date of birth was declared years after as it was never originally indicated to the registry. I can assure you that he is 23-24 years old.”
Sanches hit back at Roux
Sanches hit back by saying: "Not everything in football is good. There are those who love you and others who don’t.
"I grew up in Portugal, I spent 10 years at Benfica, how can I be 25? There is no logic to what some people say."
Renato's date or birth was 'registered late'
Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias discovered that Sanches’ date of birth - August 18. 1997 - wasn’t registered until 2002.
However, it’s understood this was because Sanches’ parents split up when he was just five months old.
His father is understood to have gone to France before returning five years later, when his son’s date of birth was registered.
Sanches continues to enhance his reputation
Sanches is widely regarded as one of the world’s most exciting young talents and has further enhanced his burgeoning reputation at this summer’s European Championships.
On Wednesday night, the teenager helped Portugal qualify for their first major tournament final since 2004 thanks to a 2-0 victory over Wales.
Sanches and his Portugal teammates will play the winners of this evening’s other semi-final between France and Germany in the final on Sunday night.
