By now, every single UFC and mixed martial arts fan around the world will have seen the news that Jon Jones failed a drugs test and has been removed from the main event of UFC 200.

Jones has been replaced by Anderson Silva, but his bout with Cormier will not be for the UFC light heavyweight title, and has been moved from the main event to the third bout on the card, quite the fall from grace.

Jones has been laid into by UFC stars from every corner, with many taking to Twitter to vent their frustration at the talented-but-flawed fighter. 'Bones' has now manned up, apologising to Cormier in his emotional press conference yesterday.

While speaking with the press, with tears running down his face, Jones was asked if he had spoken to Cormier and what he would say to him right now.

Jones seemingly broke down again and said that the only thing he wanted to do was apologise to his planned opponent.

"I haven’t had a chance to talk to [Daniel Cormier] but I just want to tell him that I’m sorry," he said.

"I just want to tell him I’m sorry and that’s really it. I know this fight means a lot to him."

You can check out a video of Jones' apology below, via MMA Fighting's Instagram account.

Look at the tears in Jones' eyes. He looks heartbroken and devastated, more so than any athlete I've seen in recent times.

While Jones was an absolute idiot to take anything that would make him record a positive test, it is good that he actually seems full of regret for his actions, and gave a sincere apology.
