Sadio Mane impresses against Tranmere Rovers on Liverpool debut

Safe to say, Sadio Mane has a lot to live up to after completing a £34 million move from Southampton to Liverpool.

Considering Chelsea paid £32 million for Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez arrived at Arsenal for £35 million, Reds fans are understandably expecting great things from their new Senegalese signing.

Mane enjoyed two fine years at the St Mary's Stadium but his latest career move is nothing like he has ever experienced before.

Ultimately, the 24-year-old will hope to prove his worth as one of Liverpool's most expensive ever signings, rather than join a long list of players to have flopped upon big-money arrivals at Anfield.

If his first appearance for the club was anything to go by, though, he could be worth every penny. In the below highlights reel against Tranmere Rovers in a pre-season friendly on Friday, Mane impressed and demonstrated the pace and skill that he became renowned for at Southampton.

Liverpool fans shouldn't get too excited, of course, given the standard of opposition, but the thought of Mane lining up alongside Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge next term is a salivating one.

It's expected the winger's arrival will spell the end of Mario Balotelli, Christian Benteke and Jordan Ibe's careers on Merseyside.

Balotelli is a target for Italian outfit Sampdoria after being told to find a new club; Benteke has been linked with £30 million moves to West Ham and Crystal Palace; and Ibe is close to joining Bournemouth for £15 million.

Where the latter's move is concerned, though, a problem has emerged.

While Liverpool are keen to ship the 20-year-old, Ibe wants to weigh up his options before committing to Eddie Howe's side.
