Takuma Asano scores twice for Sanfrecce Hiroshima

It's fair to say that not too many people had heard of Takuma Asano before Arsenal agreed a deal in principal to sign him from Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

In all honesty, the club's announcement was met with a great deal of negativity from the club's supporters, who appeared to be slightly underwhelmed by the 21-year-old Japan international.

You can't exactly blame them, though; fans of the club have been crying out for a world-class striker to take them to the next level for some time and it's extremely unlikely that Asano is the man for the job.

Ultimately, though, it appears that he could be one for the future and, as you can see in the videos below, he certainly knows where the back of the net is.

Indeed, starring for Sanfrecce Hiroshima on Saturday, Asano netted two fine goals as his side were beaten by four goals to two.

It will certainly be interesting to see if he can establish himself as a key player for the club over the coming years, but Wenger clearly believes that he can develop his latest signing into a top player.

Wenger stated, as per the club's official site: “Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future. He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years.”
