Alberto Del Rio only re-joined with the WWE at Hell in a Cell last year when he was the surprise challenger for John Cena during his time as United States Champion.
However, he has already revealed an end date to his time in the ring – which he hopes to be a WWE ring – and being at the age of 39, this is understandable.
According to Cageside Seats, the Mexican WWE Superstar recently had an interview with Sportskeeda where he was asked what is next for him, considering he has already achieved so much in his wrestling career.

He said: “I have been blessed when it comes to winning the titles as I have won it all and I am always in the scheme of things. I want to become champion one more time and there is one more title I would need to win in WWE to say, ‘I have won all the titles you have to win in this company’ which is the Intercontinental title.
“Once it’s done, I think I am ready to say goodbye to the sport. I think I have 3-5 more years in wrestling and I am hoping I spend all those years in WWE.”
Del Rio was part of the Battle Royal to become the number contender for the Intercontinental Championship last night on Raw. This was won by Darren Young, so he will have to wait a little bit longer before he gets another chance at the only singles title in the WWE that has eluded him.
The former WWE Champion is currently being treated as a mid-carder when it comes to his booking, so his time at the top is likely over. Nevertheless, taking into account the Mexican’s history within the company and talent inside the ring, as well as the brand split just around the corner, he shouldn't be underutilized anytime soon.
