Barcelona-based television station photoshops Cristiano Ronaldo to make him look fat. Seriously.

This is breaking news: there are people in Barcelona who don't like Cristiano Ronaldo. Shocking, I know.

In fairness, it works both ways, but the latest example of petty tit-for-tat in the Spanish press comes from Catalan national TV station, TV3, is something to behold.

What have they done, I hear you ask? You won't believe it when we tell you....

They flashed up a graphic of Ronaldo live on air yesterday, but took the strange decision to photoshop the image to make him look decidedly fatter than he is. We're not joking.

The incident was initially flagged up on Real Madrid's television station, RMTV, yesterday. You can check out picture of the frankly bizarre incident at the bottom of this article.

The battle between Real Madrid and Barcelona is likely to be as fierce as ever next season as both clubs push for more silverware.

Luis Enrique's side bagged a domestic double last term, but Madrid struck back to claim the Champions League - the 11th European victory in the club's history.

So far it's Barcelona who have been the most active team in the transfer market of the two. They've landed Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne so far, while Madrid's only real piece of business so far is to activate the return clause written into Alvaro Morata's contract with Juventus.

Still, despite the fact they have won five out of six major competitions in the last two years, their national media still photoshopped out Ronaldo's six pack. There's no coming back from that, is there? The shark has been jumped.
