Triple H apparently told Vince McMahon not to push Alberto Del Rio

One of the most well-documented and controversial departures from the WWE saw Alberto Del Rio leave in controversial circumstances.

From racist jibes to slapping employees, things turned ugly really fast.

That was until Del Rio returned last year and dethroned John Cena for the United States Championship, something that would have made Vince McMahon happy.

Not that he dislikes Cena, but it’s been common knowledge that McMahon is very high on the former WWE Champion.

He likes the extravagance he brings, his look and the fact that he’s technically sound in the ring, so it’s understandable that Vince wants to give one of his favourites a push heading into the WWE brand split.

Based on a rumour from WrestlingNewsWorld.com, Vince wants to build Del Rio up into a big star again to make him into a bigger deal heading into the draft, and if he’s getting paid like a main event superstar, then he should be in the main event picture on either brand.

However, it seems like Vince and Triple H can’t seem to agree on anything, with the latter insisting they cool on him until he accepts an extension, as his contract is coming up in October along with the fact that he isn’t a huge fan of his.

Until an extension is agreed, Triple H is wary of handing him anything prominent just in case he does end up leaving, but it doesn’t look as if Del Rio will get a push anytime soon if The Game has his way.
