Amr Zaki struck his fourth Barclays Premier League goal of the season to grab a deserved point for Wigan at the end of an entertaining 1-1 draw with Sunderland at the JJB Stadium.

The Egyptian converted a low cross from Maynor Figueroa to finally break the Black Cats' resistance after a second half of almost constant pressure in which Kevin Kilbane and Olivier Kapo came closest.

Sunderland had grabbed the lead in the 13th minute when Titus Bramble headed an apparently harmless left-wing cross from Steed Malbranque past his own goalkeeper.
