Kevin Owens has had quite a meteoric rise since entering the WWE as NXT champion and Indie darling.
The 32-year-old has solidified himself as one of the top acts on the roster and regularly receives some of the loudest crowd reactions in the company, despite working as a heel.
Many believe it's just a matter of time before he ascends to the WWE Championship picture. With his growing status in the company, the Canadian has been more active with his public appearances, too.
KO spoke with The Asbury Park Press to promote his appearance at iPlay America last weekend and he talked about his penchant for calling out trolls on Twitter that has become so entertaining for his 595k followers.
"For every intelligent comment, there's five mind-numbing, head-shaking tweets," Owens insisted. "I'm just honest. If I write something on Twitter, it's not because somebody told me to tweet that. It's how I feel."
Owens got his big break in WWE by entering into a rivalry with poster boy John Cena that stretched over three pay-per-views. The stellar encounters - the first of which Owens was cleanly victorious - truly announced his arrival on the scene and established him as a heavyweight player in the company.
The crux of their feud centered around Owens' disdain for the happy-go-lucky Cena and the fact that he was a better 'wrestler' than the 15-time World Champion.
However, the two-time Intercontinental Champion had some words of praise for the face of the WWE some 12 months after the climax of their feud at Battleground.
"Wrestling John Cena was a pretty incredible experience," Owens revealed. "I've grown to become a huge John Cena fan, if not the wrestler, then certainly the man."
Owens is a bona fide bad guy in the squared circle, but it's refreshing to hear a level of respect for Cena overall. At the end of the day, the 14-year veteran has been one of the hardest working superstars to ever set foot in the company and he should be respected on that premise alone, if nothing else.
