Anthony Martial appears to unveil new Manchester United home kit

Anthony Martial will probably be receiving an angry letter from Manchester United’s commercial department in the coming days after appearing to flash a glimpse of the club’s new home strip.

The French star posted a picture on Twitter - before quickly deleting it - of himself at an EA Sports photoshoot as he vies to be on the cover of FIFA 17.

The top half of a red United shirt is clear to see. And the fact that Martial added, “Ready to see @ManUtd jersey on #FIFA17 Cover?” just about gives it away.

Oops. Either Martial is just incredibly impatient, boldly defiant or didn’t get the memo. It’s more likely to be the third option.

United’s home kit is on sale on July 23 but thanks to Martial’s picture, plus leaked images of Ashley Young modelling the kit appearing in Hong Kong, the excitement of the official unveiling won’t be felt by most social media-heavy fans.

Martial, 20, is battling to be on the cover of FIFA 17 with Eden Hazard, Marco Reus and James Rodriguez.

It’s a clear sign of the forward’s rise to stardom that he is being considered to be the face of football’s most popular video game under a year from arriving at Old Trafford in a £58 million move from Monaco.

The France international was a shining light in an up-and-down season for the Red Devils. He scored 11 Premier League goals but FA Cup success didn’t hide from the disappointment of failing to qualify for the Champions League.
