Loris Karius is already showing he's got the sense of humour to survive in the Premier League.

The German goalkeeper has been making his first appearances for his new club Liverpool in pre-season, but it's fair to say the latest game against Wigan didn't exactly go to plan.

The Reds may have won 2-0, but Karius was very lucky to keep a clean sheet after making a dreadful mistake, allowing the ball to run on towards the goal and very nearly into the path of a Latics striker.

Karius' shocker

Fortunately, as Wigan failed to find the back of the net, Karius' reputation will remain relatively unscathed.

All the same, Liverpool fans watched on in horror as they witnessed their new signing 'doing a Mignolet', or in other words, exactly what he was brought in to avoid.

Here's his howler:

The funny side

The 23-year-old must be aware that he caused just a little bit of panic among Kopites, so he has quickly moved to make light of the situation with a fairly cheeky Instagram post.

Karius is determined to take Mignolet's place in Jurgen Klopp's first XI next season, even missing out on the Olympics to do so.

However, after that incident, he may have given his manager a selection headache, but not for the reasons he'd have liked.
