Liverpool are reportedly close to securing a deal with Newcastle midfielder Georgina Wijnaldum but it seems as though the Dutchman may not be the only player swapping St. James’ Park for Anfield this summer.
That’s because ESPN are reporting that the Reds are stepping up their interest in Moussa Sissoko. The report claims that sources close to Newcastle have told them that Jurgen Klopp’s side - along with Juventus - are ready to make a firm offer for the 26-year-old.
ESPN believe that the German manager is a big fan of Sissoko and the boss thinks that he will fit perfectly into his side’s playing philosophy.

Earlier this week, the Frenchman spoke of his desire to remain in England and wants to return to the Premier league following his relegation with Newcastle.
"My priority is to stay in England even if I'm not against going to search for a new challenge elsewhere," Sissoko said.
"I particularly want to play with big players and in top-level matches."
Following those comments, many believed that it was a come-and-get-me-plea to Arsenal who have been reportedly interested in the energetic midfielder.
Juventus battling Liverpool
However, as ESPN report, Juventus are also interested and will be hoping to add to their midfield to fill the rather large boots that will be left behind by Paul Pogba’s exit. Pogba looks increasingly likely to move to Manchester United for a world record fee so the Old Lady will be able to compete financially with Liverpool - as well as the fact they can guarantee trophies and Champions League football.
Newcastle must have been delighted to see Sissoko impress for France at Euro 2016, putting in a respectable performance in the final despite losing to Portugal in extra-time. His displays on the international scene saw his club slap a £35 million price-tag on him - something that may put Liverpool off.
Sissoko rates his Euro 2016 performances
When asked about his performances during this summer’s tournament, Sissoko gave a typically humble answer.
"I would give myself 10 out of 10," he claimed.
"I don't feel that I'm superior to others but, from the moment where I've given everything, I'm not going to attribute myself another mark. I have nothing to reproach myself for in this competition."
But the first Newcastle player arriving at Merseyside looks set to be Wijnaldum. The Magpies are holding out for around £25 million for the 25-year-old with the Shields Gazette claiming that the player has been left out of the Toon’s friendly against Doncaster tonight as a deal edges closer.
