Jose Mourinho coy over Paul Pogba pursuit

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has failed to deny reports linking France international Paul Pogba with a world-record move to the club.

Speaking in his press conference in China ahead of his side's pre-season fixture against German outfit Borussia Dortmund, the Special One has insisted that he is confident Ed Woodward and co. will get the club's fourth deal over the line.

The Red Devils have already purchased the trio of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in this transfer window, but it appears that Pogba is the missing piece of the jigsaw.

Pogba departed Old Trafford on a free transfer back in 2012, but it seems that United could bring him back to the club for a staggering £100 million.

New United boss Mourinho has insisted that he's calm over the club's transfer dealings and has insisted that he gave the hierarchy a few options.

Jose reacts

"I don't confirm and I don't deny," said United boss Jose Mourinho, as per the Mirror. "I cannot tell you.

"I don't think it is correct to speak about players of other clubs. My directors did a fantastic work to do 75% of the job I ask them to do. I gave them a few options. We have just 25% to do until 31 August.

"We are in great conditions to have a great market. We are calm. We have three faces to fill the profile. I am confident Mr Woodward will get the player we need to get a good balance."

In China for the fans

Mourinho has also insisted that the Red Devils are in China for the fans and will be looking to produce some strong performances.

He continued: “We are going to face difficult conditions during the season. Let’s try to do our best.

“Why we are here, is because of the fans. We would have much better conditions in other parts of the globe.

“We came for the fans and we have to make the best possible game of football.”

United are set to take on Bundesliga giants Dortmund on Friday before battling it out with neighbours Manchester City on Monday.
