It's fair to say that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is already looking like an exceptional signing for Manchester United.

The versatile midfielder enjoyed a fine debut for the club against Wigan Athletic on Saturday and now - against his former club Borussia Dortmund - he has scored his first goal for the Red Devils.

In truth, it's not exactly one to savour as, despite the strike, United are trailing by three goals to one against Thomas Tuchel's side.

Goals from Gonzalo Castro and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put Dortmund in control before half-time, while Ousmane Dembele added another with a wonderful solo goal.

But United fans will certainly be pleased by the fact that Mkhitaryan has scored his first goal in a United shirt.

As you can see below, Spaniard Juan Mata, who assisted the club's opening goal against Wigan on Saturday, played a key role in the goal against Dortmund. In truth, Mkhitaryan just couldn't miss as Mata unselfishly played it to him just inside the box.

Mkhitaryan has now been replaced by youngster Adnan Januzaj, who will be determined to impress his new manager.

Jose Mourinho's side most definitely haven't been at their best, but they will be well aware that there's still a long way to go before the start of the new Premier League season.
