It might be a brand new season but Arsenal fans on Twitter haven’t changed at all.

The Gunners’ faithful, already frustrated with Arsene Wenger’s failure to secure any big-name signings so far this summer, vented their anger on social media during Friday night’s 1-1 draw against Lens.

The player who received the brunt of the supporters’ ire was Theo Walcott, whose evening was summed up by one particularly terrible pass. (Scroll down this page to watch the video).

Arsenal fans are left scratching their heads at Walcott’s regression.

The England international, who wasn’t selected by Roy Hodgson for this summer’s European Championships in France, has, for some time now, looked a shadow of the player that scored 21 goals in 43 appearances during the 2012-13 campaign.

The 27-year-old won’t be leaving the Emirates Stadium anytime soon, though. He signed a new four-year deal worth a staggering £140,000-a-week just 12 months ago.

Which club in their right mind would be prepared to match those sort of wages?

Here’s how Arsenal fans reacted to Walcott’s performance against Lens…

Arsenal avoid defeat thanks to the Ox

Wenger’s side drew the match 1-1, with Mathias Autret scoring the first half’s only goal in the 37th minute.

Calum Chambers headed a long ball straight into the path of Abdellah Zoubir, whose square pass left Autret with the simplest of finishes.

However, Arsenal avoided defeat thanks to a quite magnificent goal from second-half substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The winger produced a stunning chipped finish that Lionel Messi would have been proud of.

Next up for Arsenal: a match against MLS All-Stars in San Jose next Friday.
