Alexis Sanchez urges Arsene Wenger to sign Arda Turan

Arsenal supporters are getting increasingly frustrated at their club’s lack of activity in this summer transfer window.

Arsene Wenger may have splashed the best part of £30 million on Granit Xhaka but, since then, the purchases of Japan international Takuma Asano and Bolton’s Dan Holding have done very little to inspire Gooners.

But it seems as though it’s not just the fans that are growing frustrated at Arsenal’s lack of signings. It appears as though star man Alexis Sanchez is also a little worried at the absence of a couple of high-profile signings.

So much so that, according to The Sun, the Chilean is urging his manager to sign one man. That man is Barcelona’s Arda Turan, who is reportedly unsettled at the Camp Nou.

The Turk signed for the Spanish champions last summer but, due to a transfer restriction, was unable to play until January. After the turn of the new year, he only managed to make nine La Liga starts and struggled to play regular first-team football.

And it seems extremely unlikely that Turan will be anything more than a bench warmer for Luis Enrique’s side next season. The arrivals of both Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes will severely restrict his game time and he could jump at the chance of an escape route to the Emirates.

However, Turan’s agent has appeared to play down the reports linking his client with a move to north London by saying: "No, I haven't heard anything from Arsenal. Arda will be staying at Barcelona."

Whether or not Wenger will listen to Sanchez is a different question entirely. Time will tell.
