The Paul Pogba saga is, thankfully, nearing an end.

The entire summer has been spent speculating as to where the Juventus star will be next season. Real Madrid were the early frontrunners, while the Old Lady profusely denied the player would leave.

But there are widespread reports that Pogba has agreed to return to Manchester United in a deal that will make him the most expensive player in history.

Suddenly, Juventus have money to spend. According to ESPN, Gonzalo Higuain has had a medical at the club ahead of a £79 million move from Serie A rivals Napoli.

Plenty think the signing of Higuain is a clear sign that Juve are already spending their Pogba money.

So, when can United fans expect Pogba’s signing to be announced? Spanish outlet AS have an idea.

Dates for the diary

Higuain’s move to Juve has apparently accelerated Pogba’s move to the Premier League. Having agreed personal terms that will see the midfielder earn €13m each year after tax for the next five seasons, the Old Lady have acquiesced to United’s continued attempts to re-sign him.

And United fans should plan some space in the diary on Wednesday 27 or Thursday 28 of this month, for those are the dates AS expect the deal to be announced.

Title contenders

Mourinho admitted earlier in the week that he had two alternative targets lined up in the event that Pogba’s move fell through but it seems that he’s landed his man.

With Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic already signed, Pogba will join a team ready to push rivals Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in next season’s title race.

Suddenly, things are rosy at Old Trafford.
