Twitter really is a wonderous place.

Upon hearing any shred of news related to the clubs they support, football fans immediately take to social media to react, debate and vent.

So, when Anthony Martial made a number of peculiar changes to his Facebook page, Manchester United supporters were quick to have their say.

The Frenchman's No.9 shirt at Old Trafford was recently taken by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and, perhaps understandably, he responded by changing his profile picture and cover photo to images of himself wearing the famous jersey.

An interesting development has since occurred, though, with a number of Arsenal fans tweeting their admiration for Martial and begging Arsene Wenger to pounce upon his discontent.

Ridiculous, I know.

Nevertheless, United fans have responded and, simply put, they've been absolutely brutal.

And just to add to the humiliation, a link to Sky Sports' match report of United's 8-2 win over Arsenal in 2011 is doing the rounds.

It's not all bad for Martial, of course, given he was handed the iconic No.11 jersey, previously worn by Ryan Giggs.

But Ibrahimovic's arrival will hold further ramifications for the 20-year-old by limiting his opportunities upfront - his natural position.

It would seem Martial is content with playing on the wing, though.

He said in March: "I am a striker but I love playing wide. The main thing is wherever I play I enjoy it and help the team.

"I must continue to work hard in training. I need to think more like a goalscorer, sometimes I get so immersed in the game because I love general play so much.

"Someone like Cristiano Ronaldo focuses on scoring to progress, so perhaps I need to think more about scoring."
