Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain has completed a mega-money move to Serie A champions Juventus.

Indeed, Higuain has departed Napoli in favour of a move to Juve for a staggering £75.3 million.

Higuain, 28, secured Serie A's Golden Boot award last season after racking up a league record-equalling 36 goals.

Now, then, he has become the third highest player in football history after the deal was confirmed earlier this evening.

Only Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, who both joined Real Madrid, have been sold for more money than Higuain.

Suarez comparison

It's a truly remarkable deal and, as you can imagine, it has caused quite the stir on social media.

One set of fans in particular have well and truly expressed their opinions on Twitter. While Arsenal supporters have certainly got in on the act - they were hoping that Arsene Wenger would bring Higuain to the Emirates - fans of Liverpool have actually been prominent.

And there's one key reason for it; Luis Suarez.

Reds fans haven't forgotten the fact that their club sold the enigmatic Uruguayan international to Spanish giants Barcelona for £65m.

While that appeared to be a fair price at the time - Suarez had just been involved in even more controversy during the 2014 World Cup - it now appears to be a steal for Barcelona, who have enjoyed fine success with him in their side.

Indeed, Suarez, who netted 40 goals in La Liga last term, has established himself as arguably the best striker in world football.

As you can imagine, then, Liverpool fans can't quite believe that Higuain has been purchased for £10m more than Suarez.
