A former WWE Tag Team Champion and protegee of Olympic Gold Medallist Kurt Angle, Benjamin will fit in on Smackdown.
Many have looked at Benjamin's ring style from his first period in WWE spanning from 2003 to 2010 and some have claimed that he simply arrived too soon.
Benjamin embodied the high flying, high octane yet powerful style that can be seen amongst current stars like AJ Styles, Seth Rollins and Neville.
There is currently no announced return date for Benjamin but it is a reasonable expectation that it will not be before Summer Slam in less than four weeks.
It will be very interesting to see what Benjamin fits into the Smackdown picture as he is not the only former WWE name to appear on the blue brand.
Tonight's first episode of Smackdown Live saw the return of the Manbeast Rhyno - a man who has previously held the ECW Championship.
All change on Tuesday's
The big announcement of Benjamin's return received a hood reaction, but that wasn't the biggest reveal of the night as we also found out the fate of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
With Champion Dean Ambrose winning the Shield triple threat at Battleground, the title is now on the Tuesday night show.
Smackdown Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan revealed that there would be a six pack challenge to find Ambrose a new #1 contender.
Bray Wyatt, John Cena, Baron Corbin, Apollo Crews, AJ Styles and Dolph Ziggler all went head to head in the main event to find Ambrose's next challenger.
******** came out on top in the main event and will now advance to Summer Slam to take on Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
