Antonio Conte will have had plenty of food for thought when he first saw Real Madrid's line-up to play his Chelsea side in the International Champions Cup.

Alvaro Morata's name was perhaps the most high-profile on Los Blancos' teamsheet, but it was in fact Mariano who unexpectedly stole the show with a wonderful strike from thirty yards.

Conte clearly still has work to do after Real surged into a 3-0 lead thanks to two goals from Marcelo and Mariano's screamer.

Marcelo was again instrumental, creating the assist, but it was undoubtedly the Dominican who deserved full credit after finding the top corner.

The 22-year-old forward is one of Madrid's brightest young talents and while he may find it difficult to force his way into the first team this coming season, he definitely looks like one for the future.

The scoreline suggests it may have been a more productive exercise for Madrid than it was for the Blues, who had been hoping to build up some momentum ahead of their first Premier League game of the new season against West Ham.

Zinedine Zidane will be delighted with his player's efforts against a strong Chelsea side featuring César Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, Nemanja Matic and Willian.

Conte, on the other hand, had reason to berate his players for failing to close Mariano down as he was allowed to run at goal, though that still doesn't take anything away from the quality of the strike.
