Chelsea fans praise Eden Hazard after Real Madrid performance

Eden Hazard's form last season was not so much a story of two halves, but one of a different player in the final few weeks of the campaign.

The Belgian midfielder's spectacularly underwhelming performances were a major factor in Chelsea's woeful title defence, but towards the end of the season, he began to show glimpses of why he's considered one of the finest attacking players in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has continued in that vein over the summer with some impressive play at Euro 2016 and also in the Blues' pre-season.

Hazard might not have been able to prevent a 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid, but his sparkling performance delighted Chelsea fans nonetheless.

Antonio Conte's men were trailing 3-0 after two goals from Marcelo and a wonder strike from Mariano, but Hazard came very close to bringing about a revival.

Hazard broke through with a great run for his first goal, before rounding the goalkeeper again for the second.

See how Chelsea fans reacted to the notion that their star man might finally be back to his best:

Conte will need Hazard to keep it up if his side are to improve their fortunes this season.

The new man in charge has been tasked with turning them back into title contenders, but he will need this Hazard to turn up, and not the one who was so disappointing under Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink last year.
