The story of this summer’s transfer window undoubtedly proves the unrelenting Paul Pogba saga. It seems Manchester United’s quest for the Frenchman takes a new twist everyday.
What makes the intended move all the more incredible is the lucrative figures it involves. It’s understood that the Old Trafford based side will offer a world record fee of £100 million for the highly rated 23-year-old.
While few fail to acknowledge Pogba’s class and quality, the majority of supporters and pundits consider such a fee to be ridiculously excessive. It appears Diego Forlan believes quite the contrary however.

Forlan, despite leaving Old Trafford 12 years ago, is never one to shy away from discussing matters at his old club.
The 37-year-old offered his insight on the Pogba saga in his column for UAE publication The National, as reported by The Mirror.
The Uruguayan stated: "Pogba’s a good player, I like him. He could well go onto become the best midfielder of his generation."
"Is he worth the figures being mentioned though? The answer: He’s worth whatever any club is willing to pay for him."
Consequently, the ex-Atletico Madrid forward is seemingly in favour of an incredible £100 million being splashed out by United. This certainly comes as a surprise considering Real Madrid snapped up Cristiano Ronaldo for £20 million less in 2009.
On the Pogba topic, Forlan was also keen to reference ex-Manchester United midfielders that the 23-year-old will be trying to emulate. The Uruguayan was particularly keen to wax lyrical about club legend Paul Scholes:
"If Paul Pogba is to cost €120 million (£100m), imagine how much Manchester United would have needed to pay for Paul Scholes? The midfielder was the best player that I ever played with – by a distance."
"United were lucky in that Scholes had no need or desire to leave the club when he was a player.”
So while most people will be left scratching their heads at the weighty price tag of Pogba’s impending move, Forlan certainly won’t be one of them. It seems the 37-year-old is keen for his old club to snap up the midfielder, no matter the price.
