Eden Hazard’s performances during last season will go down as one of life's mysteries.
Just one year on from winning PFA Player of the Year, Hazard looked a shadow of his former self while almost going the entire campaign without scoring.
But, as the saying goes, form is temporary, class is permanent and there’s real belief that the Belgian can return to his best form this season.
The 25-year-old showed glimpses of his brilliance during this summer’s Euro 2016 and, with Antonio Conte arriving in west London, Hazard will surely prove that he’s still one of best players in the country.
Despite a 3-2 loss, Hazard impressed for the Blues against Real Madrid on Saturday by scoring twice and his display certainly caught the eye of Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane.
After the match, the Frenchman explained just how talented Hazard was, whilst also hinting that he would love him at the Bernabeu.
“He is a very, very good player,” he said, per the Mirror.
“Obviously, all clubs want the best players but he is a Chelsea player.”
While Chelsea fans will obviously be glad that they have a “very, very good player” in their ranks, they may also be a little worried about Madrid stealing away their star man.
Especially after Hazard named Zidane as “the best ever” two months ago.
Obviously, after Madrid pulled out of the Paul Pogba deal because they were unwilling to pay £100m to sign him, there will be questions whether the European Champions can afford him.
But the prospect of playing for “the best ever” and the chance to play in the Champions League must be very appealing for Hazard.
