The card for WWE's SummerSlam pay-per-view is shaping up nicely after the most recent confirmations were made.

We already knew that Dean Ambrose would be taking on Dolph Ziggler, Seth Rollins was facing off against Finn Balor and that Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar are going one-on-one for the first time since 2002.

And now we have something else to look forward to at the WWE's second biggest PPV of the year.

On SmackDown Live on Tuesday night, Apollo Crews earned an Intercontinental Championship opportunity against The Miz at SummerSlam.

Crews won a Triple Threat match against Baron Corbin and Kalisto to decide the number one contender, throwing Corbin out of the ring and rolling up Kalisto to get the win.

Wrestling for the intercontinental title in your first ever SummerSlam. Not bad going for the WWE rookie.

Interestingly, the action wasn't over after the bell as Corbin attacked Kalisto and The Miz ran in to attack Crews. Corbin ended things by finally laying out The Miz.

Could Baron Corbin and Kalisto be added to the match in the near future, making it a fatal four way for the title? It looks like it could be a possibility at this point.

While SmackDown is badly lacking in star power at the moment it is doing a good job of creating some interesting storylines. We will have to wait and see how all this plays out.
