Liverpool and Manchester United have a fierce rivalry on the pitch but Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville are ensuring that continues in the Sky Sports studio.

The pair worked together as pundits before Neville accepted a managerial role at Valencia. However, things didn’t exactly go to plan for the United legend at the Mestalla and he was soon sacked by the Spanish club.

With just one week to go until the start of the Premier League season, Sky Sports have revealed that Neville will be joining Carragher ahead of the upcoming campaign.

There’s no doubt there will be many football fans pleased with Neville’s return due to his excellent punditry, but what does Carragher think of the return of an old foe?

Well, take a look at his reaction below.

Some of you may be well aware that ‘FFS’ is short for ‘for f***s sake.’

Neville obviously wasn’t going to let the former Liverpool defender get away with that and pointed out that Sky Sports have lost viewers and presenter, Ed Chamberlin, since he left the company. He replied: “Whilst away - I lost a few games but you lost half a million viewers and a presenter!!”

But Carragher hit back with, asking if they were able to analyse some of Valencia’s matches from last season on Monday Night Football: “Left me for a 6 month fling now you come crawling back for forgiveness. Can we analyse the ‘FEW’ games on MNF?!!!”

Of course, Neville and Carragher seem to have put their United and Liverpool rivalries in the past and are very good friends nowadays. But that doesn’t stop them from having a bit of friendly banter on Twitter.

With the pair back together, we certainly can’t wait for the first Monday Night Football. Bring it on.
