One of the most exciting things to come from the WWE brand split was the news that Shelton Benjamin would be returning to SmackDown Live, a place he calls home after achieving success as part of Team Angle and the World’s Greatest Tag Team.

With fans gearing up for his highly-anticipated return, The Gold Standard shocked the WWE Universe by revealing he won’t be returning to the company just yet.

Through the WWE’s help, he’s admitted that he’ll need surgery to repair a torn rotator in his shoulder.

As expected, his fans are devastated to learn the news that they’ll be forced to wait a little longer to see him return after so much time away from the WWE.

It was great to see so many of his fans wishing him a speedy recovery after he broke the news, showcasing just how much of an impact he still has on the WWE fans, despite not currently competing for the company.

While others took a more light-hearted approach to the situation, sharing their frustrations at his ill-timed injury in their own unique way.

It’s obviously a frustrating situation for Benjamin, his fans, and WWE, who were hoping he’d come back to help the SmackDown roster.

It can lead to a better comeback, though. Rather than announcing his return, a surprise appearance could have a much bigger impact once he undergoes his surgery and rehabilitation.
