Paul Pogba is the talk of the town - well, Manchester - after touching down at the city's airport to complete a medical on Monday afternoon.

The Frenchman is on the verge of completing a record-breaking deal to re-join Manchester United having left for Juventus in 2012.

In doing so, this summer's biggest transfer saga will finally come to an end following months of conflicting reports and rumours.

United confirmed Pogba's medical on Sunday prior to their Community Shield clash with Leicester City at Wembley - which they won 2-1 - by releasing a short but emphatic statement on their official website.

Alongside the words "Paul Pogba has been granted permission to have a medical in order to finalise his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United" was the hashtag '#POGBACK'.

And in what was a successful attempt to create more excitement amongst United fans, Manchester Airport posted a brilliant series of tweets to announce Pogba's arrival on English soil (see below).

Accompanying a picture of the 23-year-old's private jet on the landing strip (see below) was the caption: "An important passenger has just touched down at the airport. Can anyone guess who it might be?"

But was the airport's social media team finished there? Of course they weren't.

With responses flooding in, the ingenius individual(s) behind the Twitter page dished out a number of hilarious replies (again, see below).

Fantastic. Whoever is in control of Manchester Airport's Twitter account deserves a pay rise.

Thanks to the above updates, United fans are now ecstatic by the realistic prospect of Pogba playing alongside Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan next season.

A picture of the Frenchman driving to Carrington training ground in a Chevrolet Camero only added to the hysteria.
