WWE Tag Team Title Match added for Summerslam

The Summerslam card is now up to seven matches after the WWE announced that there will be a WWE Tag Team Title Match at the show in New York. Fans attending the event at the Barclays Center will now have the chance to watch The New Day take on Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in addition to the previously announced matches.

The New Day passed the test in their recent feud against the Wyatt Family and the trio of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E have now held the tag title belts for longer than anyone else in the history of the titles.

The two former Bullet Club members though represent the strongest challenge to date for The New Day. Gallows & Anderson made their intent known last week on WWE Raw, with a brutal beat down of the champions. The attack on Big E, and specifically his nether regions, has left a huge question mark over the ability of the most powerful member of The New Day trio to be involved in the match.

WWE succeeded in getting over the physical nature of the challengers, while adding a level of personal feeling to the feud that has been lacking in some of the recent rivalries for The New Day. The champions are always entertaining and often hilarious, but the sometimes detracts from the overall intensity of a story line. The devastating assault though means that is not the case here.

The Tag Team Title Match joins an already loaded card at Summerslam. The main event will be Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor as the Raw brand crowns the first ever WWE Universal Champion. Under card highlights include a rejuvenated Dolph Ziggler vs. Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Title, and Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte for the WWE Women's Championship.

Here is the seven match card in full:

Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor for the WWE Universal title
Dolph Ziggler vs. Dean Ambrose (c) for the WWE World title
Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte for the Women’s championship
The New Day (c) vs. The Club for the WWE Tag Team championship
The Miz vs. Apollo Crews for the Intercontinental title
Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton
John Cena vs. AJ Styles
