You’d think that after Paul Pogba made his £89 million move to Manchester United, there are a few midfielders that aren’t particularly looking forward to facing him in the Premier League this season.

While that could well be the case, there’s one man who seems very excited to face him.

That man is John Obi Mikel - or if we use his official new name - Mikel John Obi.

The Nigerian may struggle for play regular first-team football for Chelsea this season with the likes of Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante ahead of him in the midfield pecking orders but try telling Mikel that.

The 29-year-old has uploaded a rather brilliant tweet welcoming Pogba back to the Premier League.

Mikel has used a video of him nutmegging Pogba with a cheeky back-heel during a match between Nigeria and France.

Accompanying the tweet are the words: Welcome back to the @premierleague @paulpogba - looking forward to facing you again my friend #EPL.”

Well played, Mikel.

Mikel’s replies were full of football fans congratulating him for his rather brilliant tweet. Check out the replies below:

The Chelsea midfielder won’t have to wait too long to attempt to nutmeg the world’s most expensive player again. The two sides meet at Stamford Bridge on October 22 as Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho go head-to-head.

While Mikel may well be on the fringes of the Chelsea side, United’s side will be built around Pogba.

The midfielder has arrived for a record £89million and could be instrumental as the Red Devils attempt to return to the summit of English football.

Almost everyone associated with football has had their say on the hefty transfer fee but it will be down to Pogba to silence those critics by proving he is well worth the money.

After Mikel’s tweet though, don’t be surprised if he’s already having nightmares about facing the Chelsea player once again this season.
