Conor McGregor reveals Cristiano Ronaldo has signed new Real Madrid deal

Speculation over Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid future has been around a little while now, with both Paris Saint-Germain and former club Manchester United linked with a big-money swoop for the Portuguese superstar.

However, the 31-year-old quashed any suggestions he could leave the Santiago Bernabeu, ahead of Real's Champions League final back in May, saying Real would be "intelligent" to give him a new contract.

And while it seemed a formal announcement was expected at the end of the month, which would see the Portuguese winger extend his £16 million-a-year contract until 2020 or 2021, UFC star Conor McGregor made a shock announcement that came out of the blue.

The 28-year-old Dublin-born fighter recently spent time with the European Championship winner in Las Vegas last month, at his training camp ahead of his return at UFC 202. And during an interview at a recent promotional event, McGregor dropped a big bombshell about Ronaldo.

McGregor claims Ronaldo has already signed a new contract with Real Madrid, although the fighter didn't reveal how long the deal was, however, it is expected that the Portuguese's wages will not extend beyond his current £16 million-a-year earnings.

Replying to a question regarding whether he - McGregor - can overtake Ronaldo in the Forbes list of top-earning celebrities, the Irishman replied: "That'll be tough, he's just signed a new contract with Real Madrid but we'll see, maybe next year I'll have him!"

Ronaldo has looked in good health since the knee injury that prematurely ended his involvement in the Euro 2016 final, and is well on his way to recovery, after missing Real's UEFA Super Cup victory over Sevilla last Tuesday.

But it remains to be seen how Real will feel about McGregor revealing Ronaldo's contract situation, if what the Irishman says is completely accurate.
