Usain Bolt once again reminded everyone that he is one of the greatest athletes of all-time after winning his third 100m Olympic gold.

The 29-year-old ran 9.81 to hold off the challenge from America’s Justin Gatlin to win, yet another, Olympic medal.

The Jamaican deservedly received plaudits from all corners of the sporting world for his dazzling performance on the track in Rio.

That includes a little message from new Manchester United signing Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman was denied a chance to make his second United debut on Sunday after discovering he was suspended. While the former Juventus midfielder would have been impressed with his side’s 3-1 victory against Bournemouth, he also paid tribute to the legendary Bolt.

He posted an Instagram cartoon with himself with a motorbike alongside Bolt, accompanied with the caption: "Bolt unstoppable 🚀🏍 how to race you man 👊🏿 @usainbolt #rio2016” - suggesting that you need to a rocket and a motorbike in order to keep up with Bolt. He’s probably not wrong.

Bolt on Pogba

But, after winning gold, Bolt had a few words to say about Pogba. The sprinter, who is a big United fan, admitted he was disappointed after Pogba was unable to play against Bournemouth.

"I was sad he didn’t play today but I’ll see how he feels in the team. Jose Mourinho has built a great team, which I’ll watch it,” he told French news outlet RMC Sport.

Bolt may well get that chance on Friday as Mourinho’s side take on Southampton at Old Trafford. The world’s most expensive player, who was signed last week for £89million, could be called into the starting line-up for the club’s first home game of the campaign.

Bolt's previous messages

Sending messages to members of United’s team seems to be Bolt’s new thing.

After Jose Mourinho was appointed as manager, Bolt recorded a video message saying: “Well Jose, It’s Usain Bolt, as you know.

“I’ll be watching you this season and I expect nothing but greatness from you as I will bring greatness.

“So I’m looking forward to it. We need a championship.”

Bolt has also spoken to Zlatan Ibrahimovic via a recorded message. Bolt told the Swedish striker: “Hey Zlatan, it's Usain Bolt. I just wanna say, welcome to the greatest team you've ever been in: Manchester United.

"Looking forward to goals, I'll be watching you."

Well, Bolt would certainly be impressed with Zlatan after he marked his first Premier League appearances with a goal against Bournemouth.
