Trochowski strike sinks Wales

Football News

A second-half strike from Germany's Piotr Trochowski broke the hearts of a brave Wales side as they went down 1-0 in their World Cup group four qualifier in Monchengladbach.

Wales maybe feared a hammering against the Euro 2008 beaten finalists, but they mounted a fine defensive performance in the Borussia Park stadium.

Wales' heroes were defenders James Collins, in his first senior game for 11 months, Ashley Williams and Craig Morgan - but Germany had to fight all the way for the three points.
