Robbie Keane banked another three precious World Cup points as the Republic of Ireland gained revenge over Cyprus with a 1-0 win at Croke Park.

The Liverpool front man headed home a fifth-minute Damien Duff cross to win a tight game and hand manager Giovanni Trapattoni victory in his first competitive game on Irish soil.

However, Shay Given had to make good saves either side of the break to preserve the three points.
