Paul Pogba owes an awful lot to Juventus, the club that took him from Manchester United in 2012 and immediately handed him the first-team opportunities he so desperately craved.

In Turin, Pogba completed his transformation from boy to man. During his four years with the Old Lady, the Frenchman established his status as the most sought-after central midfielder in world football.

At 23, Pogba is now the most expensive footballer of all time following his record-breaking transfer back to Old Trafford.

The midfielder has described his return as “destiny”. He has nothing but respect for Juventus while there appears to be no feelings of bitterness towards the player from the Italian club either.

In fact, in his press conference today, Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri even made a joke about the reasons why Pogba might have left the club.

"We had a very good relationship, like I do with all the players," Allegri was quoted as saying by Goal. "Maybe he was still hurting because he lost to me in a challenge at football and basketball, so it was for that reason he decided to leave Juventus!

"We didn't speak because among other things he was in America until the day before he went to Manchester."

Luckily, there is video evidence of the challenges on YouTube.

And, indeed, Allegri got the better of the young midfielder in both football and basketball.
