At long last, Christian Benteke’s Liverpool nightmare has come to an end.
The Belgian striker has jumped ship after a tumultuous spell at Anfield by securing a move to Crystal Palace. It may have taken £27 million to pry him away from Merseyside, but the Eagles succeeded in their attempts today.
Despite the nature of his spell at Liverpool though, Benteke has been sure to address the fans upon his departure. It appears the 25-year-old isn’t as bitter as you’d think he’d be.

Just a year ago, Benteke was highly sought after by the Reds. In fact, the Anfield side made the Belgian their second-most expensive purchase with £32.5 million being spent to secure his services.
However, despite such faith being shown, the forward never reached the heights he did at Aston Villa.
Just 10 goals in 42 outings for Liverpool wasn’t enough for Jurgen Kopp to maintain faith in the 25-year-old.
With Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi proving far more prolific last season, for many the writing was on the wall. For much of this summer Liverpool have been nervously waiting for the right offer to arrive and to offload the player.
Upon the inevitable finally occurring though, many found Benteke’s reaction unexpected.
The ex-Aston Villa man took to Twitter to thoroughly thank Liverpool for his time at the club and the memories that came with it. The post can be seen below:
The Kop certainly weren’t Benteke’s biggest fans, but the brutish forward was keen to thank them regardless. It’s a nice touch from the 25-year-old no matter how fleeting his Merseyside tenure was.
Besides, with Liverpool somehow managing to make minimal loss and receiving a favorable message in the process, it should be smiles all round at Anfield.
