Following last weekend’s impressive 4-3 away victory over Arsenal, Liverpool were expected to defeat promoted Burnley, who were beaten by Swansea City in their Premier League opener, at Turf Moor this afternoon.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s men left themselves with an uphill struggle in only the second minute: Sam Vokes putting the home side 1-0 ahead with a great strike past Simon Mignolet.

Andre Gray then made it 2-0 to Burnley with another fine goal in the 37h minute.

Liverpool dominated possession and fashioned a number of goalscoring opportunities but failed to find a way back into the match.

And Reds’ fans, frustrated by the team’s failure to build on last week’s win over the Gunners, couldn’t hide their anger on social media - with two players in particular.

Klopp lined up with Dejan Lovren and summer signing Ragnar Klavan in central defence, but the centre-back pairing endured a tough afternoon up in Lancashire.
