Adnan Januzaj completed his home league debut for Sunderland this afternoon but failed to guide David Moyes' side to all three points against new boys Middlesbrough.

In fact, Sunderland were beaten by two goals to one at the Stadium of Light, leaving them without a point from their opening two fixtures.

It's fair to say, though, that fans of Manchester United took an interest throughout proceedings. That's because Januzaj, who joined the Premier League strugglers on a season-long loan deal, was handed a prominent role in the team.

But how did he get on? Well, the versatile midfielder started extremely brightly and was a constant threat to the Borough back line during the first half.

Borough may well have headed into the interval with a two-goal lead, but Januzaj was certainly one of the most exciting players on the pitch.

Indifferent day

He struggled to get involved during the opening 20 minutes of the second period, however, but once again started to pose a threat during the latter stages of the contest.

But Januzaj's final ball appeared to let him down more often than not. He had a couple of attempts at goal that left a lot to be desired, while his set pieces were also relatively poor.

As you can imagine, United fans duly reacted on social media. It's fair to say that the club's faithful just aren't sure whether the player has a future at the club at this stage.
