Zinedine Zidane undergoes same ritual before every Real Madrid game

Zinedine Zidane has been at the top for two decades, so he must have a few secrets to his success.

The French superstar turned Real Madrid manager, who guided Los Blancos to the Champions League in his first few months in charge, is hoping to emulate that success in La Liga this season.

Zizou's side got off to the perfect start with a 3-0 win away to Real Sociedad thanks to a Gareth Bale brace and a league debut goal for Marco Asensio, but while the boss' motivational skills may have inspired his players, a little superstition may have also played a role.

Ahead of the game, Zidane allowed Real's official Youtube channel a unique insight into his pre-match ritual.

The former legendary midfielder can be seen waiting outside the dressing room for each and every player, giving them a handshake and a slap on the chest for good measure.

Take a look:

It's not known how long he's been doing this, but it's clearly having some effect, as the 44-year-old has an impressively close bond with his players.

At the very least, Zidane's definitely an improvement on his predecessor Rafael Benitez, whose frosty relationship with several of their star men did the club no favours.

The challenge for Zizou now is to transform that into something more tangible in the league, as Real have lifted the trophy just twice in nine years.
