Emmanuel Frimpong. Remember him?

The Ghanaian midfielder was considered a genuine prospect during the early stages of his career and made a handful of appearances for the Arsenal first team.

He then spent time on loan with Wolves, Charlton and Fulham before completing a permanent transfer to Barnsley in 2014.

Whether Frimpong’s love for the sport diminished after leaving the Gunners, or whether he was never all that to begin with, is still a little unclear.

But the 24-year-old now finds himself playing for Arsenal Tula - no, us neither - in the Russian Premier League following a spell with Ufa in the same division.

Frimpong still loves the word DENCH...

Frimpong has always been regarded as a bit of a joker and there was a period of time, around 2013, when he and the rapper Lethal Bizzle wouldn’t stop using the word ‘DENCH’.

For those who don’t know, DENCH basically means cool.

It became a catchphrase for Frimpong and Mr. Bizzle and the pair of them sold a fair bit of merchandise - t-shirts, hats, etc. - with that one word on it.

A couple of years later and Frimpong is still clearly still trying to make the most of the DENCH phenomena.

This is what he's wearing on his shirt....

The midfielder recently made his debut for Arsenal Tula but rather than his surname on the back of his shirt, old Frimps has decided to get the word - you guessed it - DENCH on the back of it.

Except, you would only know that if you speak Russian, because teams in Russia use the Cyrillic alphabet.

This is what it looks like…

We almost feel embarrassed for him.

Has Emmanuel Frimpong taken the whole DENCH thing too far now? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
