On transfer deadline day, there are two things that are just taken as a given.

One: Jim White will be working the night shift on Sky Sports News and will be wearing a ghastly yellow tie. Two: Emmanuel Adebayor will be moving to a new club.

The Togolese striker has popped up at no less than four Premier League clubs since originally joining Arsenal in 2006 and has, rather impressively, managed to alienate each and every fan base in the process.

His latest failure was with Crystal Palace, who offered him a six-month deal last January in a desperate attempt to bring attacking reinforcements to the club. He made just 12 appearances, scoring once before Alan Pardew decided to release him.

The summer has been long and dull without him but as the deadline approaches, he is finally back in our viewfinder. Championship side Fulham have, according to Sky Sports, made a move to sign him on a free transfer.

As you can probably tell, it has been a very quiet transfer deadline day thus far but Adebayor's latest movement will come as a surprise to the many fans that have been left underwhelmed by his application over the last, well, decade.

He's made some mistakes

While fans will inevitably accuse Adebayor of looking for a payday, he has changed his tune in the last few months. Earlier this year, he claimed he had made a "mistake" by leaving Arsenal, where he undoubtedly displayed the best form of his career.

Adebayor said: “For me, at the end of the day I have to be happy about where I came from and what I have become today – I have to forget about all the haters.

“All the Arsenal fans boo me and when I look back I understand where everything went wrong but there are certain things in life you cannot come back to any more, you just look at it and say 'okay I made a mistake'.
