Arsenal player wants to take Jack Wilshere’s No. 10 shirt

Jack Wilshere has left Arsenal until the end of the season in a bid to get his ailing career back on track.

The 24-year-old was granted permission to leave the Emirates Stadium on loan by Arsene Wenger, and he now finds himself at Bournemouth after completing a surprise move to the Vitality Stadium earlier this week.

Former Gunner Ray Parlour believes this is the first sign that Wilshere might not have a future at Arsenal - and he’s not alone.

“The problem is his body; can he handle it?” Parlour told talkSPORT. “That’s been his problem for the last three years. There’s no one doubting he’s a brilliant player.

“But he keeps getting injuries. There’s something in his body that’s not handling the Premier League. And that’s what he’s going out to do - to play on a regular basis.

“Bournemouth fans have got an excellent player on their books now, if he can stay fit. And that’s the question mark in the whole situation.”

Dramatic fall from grace for Wilshere

Nobody would have predicted, several years ago, that Wilshere would be loaned to Bournemouth at the start of the 2016-17 season.

The central midfielder was widely regarded, for many years, as a player who would become vital for both club and country. A player with the potential to become one of the world’s very best midfielders.

But, mainly because of injuries, Wilshere’s career hasn’t gone to plan - and unless he shines at Bournemouth, his Arsenal dream will be as good as over.

Mesut Ozil wants the No. 10 shirt

One player who can clearly see a silver lining in the cloud is Mesut Ozil.

The German playmaker already has his eyes on taking Wilshere’s No. 10 shirt if the Englishman leaves the Gunners next summer.

"Of course I have previously given those in charge a signal,” Ozil was quoted as saying by Sport 1, per 101 Great Goals. “The number is right for me and my position as a playmaker.”

Ozil currently wears the No. 11 shirt, but it’s safe to assume he’ll be first in the queue for the coveted No. 10 jersey should Wilshere complete a permanent move away from the Emirates in 2017.
